Sightseeing in Brno, the second largest city of the Czech republic. Brno has a beautiful historic centre with a large number of Renaissance and Baroque buildings. One of the dominating features is the St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral.
During the walking tour we will climb the hill where the Spilberk castle is, visit for example the Old Town Hall, the New Town Hall and the Freedom Square, originally called the Lower Market, which is the largest and also the oldest square in Brno. Everybody loves the atmosphere of the Cabbage market, where fruit, vegetables and flowers are being sold up to the present time.
Timing
9.30 start from the lobby of Hotel Continental
12.30 return to Hotel Continental
Suggested dress: standard city dress, walking shoes.

Saturday afternoon, June 26, 2010 - climbing in the Brno "rope center”

The rope center is a sporting facility made up of various rope elements, built out of ropes (synthetic, steel or natural), beams, logs and other components. These elements are suspended above the ground on columns or other constructions.
When participants' feet are no more than 1.5 m above the ground, the elements are considered low and serve mainly as first contact with rope elements.
In contrast, elements installed high above the ground (1.5 m and up) are considered high rope elements. You will be provided with personal protection equipment and a belay system to ensure the climber’s safety.
Timing:
14.30 – departure by bus from Hotel Continental
18.00 – return to Hotel Continental
Light refreshment will be served in the rope center.
Suggested dress: sports dress (t-shirt, shorts), climbing equipment (ropes, helmets, etc.) are provided by the center.

A visit to the Punkva Caves in the Moravian Karst, lunch and a visit of the Santini's Baroque Cathedral in Krtiny
At first, we visit the Punkva Caves in the Moravian Karst, the most important karst area of the Central Europe. You will see there the bottom of the famous Macocha Abyss and enjoy a romantic cruise on the underground Punkva river. Hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world visit these caves every year.
Then we will continue to a small village Krtiny with its pilgrimage church of the Name of Virgin Mary designed by Giovanni Santini. It was built in the 18th century in a unique style called Baroque-Gothic style. The ancient Marian pilgrimage place in Krtiny prospered a lot during the top baroque period. More than 50 000 pilgrims used to visit it yearly at that time.
Timing:
8.00 – departure by bus from Hotel Continental
around 15.30 – return to Hotel Continental
Suggested dress: standard city dress, closed walking shoes (not sandals). The temperature in the caves is low (8 degrees Celsius all year long), do not forget a pullover or jacket, eventually a hut or a cap.
